Old Microsoft Operating Systems

Windows XP - Windows Vista - Windows 7 - Windows 8.1

The End of Windows XP -
Microsoft withdrew support on 8th April 2014

Windows 10 is already five years old and Microsoft officially stopped providing patches and fixes for Windows XP on 8th April, 2014,

Windows XP D Day has passed - After twelve years of support for Windows XP Microsoft ended mainstream status of XP on 8 April 2014. XP is now officially dead Upgrade right now or you may lose everything. Do not leave it any longer. Microsoft will continue to support Malware-spotting updates provided by Microsoft's Security Essentials for XP. These security updates were produced until 14 July 2015 for XP but remember although Security essentials did spot some Malware and Viruses they do not protect you from gaping security holes in the Operating system itself. Security patches, regular updates and bug fixes for XP ceased on 8 April 2014. This means your XP security is seriously compromised right now, even with anti virus. You must replace your PC today.

Originally launched in 2001, Windows XP is Microsoft's most successful operating system. Once the company had revamped security and hardened the bug-ridden Internet Explorer web browser in 2004, XP evolved into a relatively stable platform with the Service Pack 2 version.  Microsoft tried to convince businesses to refresh their desktop OS with Windows Vista in 2005. But the negative feedback for Vista did enormous damage to their reputation with constant compatibility and performance glitches and as many had just upgraded to Windows XP SP2 they did want the upheaval of yet another upgrade. It is estimated that there were still almost 300 million copies of XP running worldwide (in January 2014). Do not let your PC be left in the dark It is now time to upgrade to a new PC.

Windows 7, released in 2009, has been a relatively slow burner for Microsoft, but unlike Vista, feedback from end users has been favourable many people have already bought into the upgrade path and have migrated successfully from XP to Windows 7 but now with Windows 7 also retired now is the time for a new PC

The End of Windows Vista
Microsoft withdrew support on 11th April 2017

Microsoft officially stopped providing patches and fixes for Windows Vista on 11th April 2017.  Microsoft Windows Vista is officially dead - After ten years of support for Windows Vista Microsoft ended mainstream status of Vista on 11th April 2017. Upgrade right now or you may lose everything. Do not leave it any longer. Microsoft has already ceased supporting Windows defender and Security essentials. Security patches, regular updates and bug fixes for Vista ceased on 11th April 2017.  This means your Vista security is seriously compromised right now, even with third party anti virus. You must update or retire your PC from the internet today.

Originally launched in 2007. Vista was never Microsoft's best Operating System but has put in some sterling service on some PC's for many years and was mostly stable after the Service Pack 2 Version.

What Does This Mean for Me?

Windows Vista ended its product support lifecycle after completing ten successful years. In other words, Microsoft are longer be supporting Windows Vista, and all updates for this operating system have been completely stopped. Users of this operating system are advised to upgrade their software to a more recent version 8.1 immediately or stop using the system.

Why Upgrade?

The longer you stay with Windows Vista, the higher the chance you have of becoming a victim of cyber-crime. Although Windows Vista came with a significant improvement over XP, as time went by cyber-criminals increasingly targeted out of date operating systems due to their vulnerabilities. Updating your operating system will safeguard you from these external threats and help keep your system more secure with continued Microsoft mainstream support and patches The only way this is now possible is with an upgrade to Windows 8.1 or a new PC with Windows 10.

The End of Windows 7
Microsoft withdrew support on January 14th 2020

Windows 7 is now its End of Life phase, which means that Microsoft are no longer offering any updates of security fixes for the old operating system.

While many people will have upgraded to Windows 10 years ago, there are still millions of PCs out there that are using Windows 7. With Windows 7 now at its End of Life, it means those PCs need to be upgraded or replaced ASAP.

Even if you ditched Windows 7 years ago, you could still be affected by the Windows 7 End of Life. Any company that holds your data, such as doctor’s surgeries, for example, and still use Windows 7 could be putting your privacy at risk if they don’t upgrade.

However, Windows 7’s End of Life is no need for panic, either. PCs running Windows 7 won’t instantly stop working, nor should they become security risks overnight.

But You Must Upgrade your PC now

Contact PCFixShop today and get your PC upgraded to Windows 10 - If Your PC is six years old or less Most PC's can be upgraded to Windows 10 with no hardware change. Some might require a little extra memory or maybe a videocard upgrade to perform better under Windows 10 but most can be upgraded to Windows 10 relatively cheaply.
